Veteran-led
Icarus was founded by two veteran therapists who recognised that, to be able to provide reassurance and effective support, having an understanding of military service is extremely important. This veteran-led approach remains at the core of our charity today.

Many of us within the Icarus team are either veterans ourselves or have close connections with the military and have first hand experience of some of the problems facing our veterans as a result of military service or with the adjustment to civilian life.

We speak the same language as those we support and we are proud to be part of the wider military family.
Care and support without delay
We understand that help is needed promptly and our care and support starts straight away. We aim to respond to enquiries within 24 hours with the objective of providing support with little or no delay.

At the core of our service is the belief that no one should have to wait long to get the help they need.
Flexible and bespoke
We work on the basis that no “one size fits all” and believe support should be flexible and sympathetic to each client.

Mental health is something that constantly changes and the range of mental health issues that individuals seek help for is diverse. We also know that the nature of military service and mindset is another factor that needs to be taken into account.

Each person asking for our help is treated as an individual. They are offered a thorough professional assessment, have a care plan personalised to their specific needs and the therapy or support provided is tailored to them.

We are strongly committed to ensuring a high level of flexibility in our approach that allows us to offer a range of talking therapies, as well as coaching and mentoring support to our clients.
With you until you are ready
There is no set limit to the length of time we offer our services.

We recognise that ongoing support is often a vital part of recovery. To provide this continuing care, we have a team of coaches and mentors who are available to offer practical help and advice, give support and guidance or simply be there to just listen and talk.

We offer individuals the support they need until they are able to return to normal and well-adjusted lives. The number of sessions that we provide to each client will depend upon the nature of the difficulties or problems that they are facing.
